The Grand Junction Housing Authority announced today that it has received a $30,000 Daniels Fund grant to support its Family Stabilization Program.
The Family Stabilization Program provides a housing support system for homeless families and their children. A stable home has been shown to be the single most important factor for educational success of children and an important base for families to recover from crisis situations. During this one year stabilization period, families will also receive intensive support services to strengthen the family and to assist in the development of self-sufficiency skills.
“The grant will support the purchase and rehabilitation of the apartment building that houses the program,” said Jody Kole, Executive Director.
The Daniels Fund operates the Daniels Fund Scholarship Program and the Daniels Fund Grants Program in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. The Fund was established in 1997 by Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television known for his kindness and generosity to those in need.
