Grand Junction, CO -- The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded 35 VASH vouchers to the Grand Junction Housing Authority to provide permanent supportive housing for homeless veterans. The HUD Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH) provides rental assistance vouchers specifically targeted to assist homeless veterans.
Applicants for the VASH Program must receive an eligibility referral from the VA. Those who qualify for the program, will receive treatment and regular case management to retain the Voucher. The VA Medical Center case manager will also work closely with the Grand Junction Housing Authority to help participants find suitable housing. The GJHA will determine income eligibility in accordance to HUD regulations for the HCV program.
Individuals interested in applying for the VASH Program should contact their local VA representative. The Grand Junction Housing Authority will have a booth at Friday’s Veteran’s Stand-Down that will provide further information.
