You may take your voucher and transfer to any city in the United States which has a Housing Authority that administers a Section 8 program as long as :

• You are not in your first year of the term of your lease, and
• You have not violated the Family Obligations listed on the voucher, and
• You do not owe the GJHA or another Housing Authority money, and
• The family has not moved under portability within the previous 12-month period.

The GJHA will accept families with a valid Housing Choice Voucher from another Housing Authority; the GJHA will not absorb incoming portables.
