Maintenance Technician - Focuses in Building Maintenance (1)

The Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA) is looking for a quality individual to join our team as a Maintenance Technician working primarily in building maintenance.

Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for quality and timely general apartment maintenance and repair to ensure apartment homes and other property facilities are in good working order. Responsibilities include preparing apartments for move-in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units; electrical appliances, outlets, and light fixtures; plumbing, carpentry, and locks.  Most building maintenance is completed in occupied or unoccupied apartment units.  Other responsibilities include grounds work to include mowing, pruning, fence repairs, weed removal, leaf removal, irrigation repairs, cleaning areas around dumpsters, and removing snow.   Currently, we are looking for someone to fill a role that will work primarily in building maintenance, but possibly be asked to complete some grounds maintenance at times of organization necessity.

The ideal candidate has the ability to do the following:

  • Must treat people with respect and work with integrity and professional ethics, upholding the agency’s values and mission. Represents the agency in a positive, professional and ethical manner at all times.

  • Monitor and manage assigned work orders through an electronic work order system.  Performs electronic recordkeeping related to labor hours and materials used.  Monitor and utilize electronic communications such as email, text messages, electronic team meetings through different software platforms and respond accordingly.

The pay range for this non-exempt position is $18.41/hour - $25.82/ hour and would be eligible for discretionary, performance-based bonuses. The position is benefit eligible with a benefit menu that includes health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid time off accruals, and holiday pay. Outside of scheduled on-call hours, the weekly schedule is typically 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with the possibility of occasional overtime.  This position must be available to work on-call and respond to 24-hour call outs as assigned. Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator 

The Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA) is looking for a people person to join our Supportive Services Team as the FSS Coordinator.

As the FSS Coordinator at GJHA, you will put your case working skills to work at an organization that takes pride in fostering a community in which families and individuals have an inviting and safe place to call home.  If you pride yourself on being able to assist people in achieving their goals, enjoy case management, and building positive relationships in the community, then this is the job for you!

Our FSS Coordinator is responsible to coordinate the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, as required by the Grand Junction Housing Authority's Action Plan and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) rules and regulations where applicable.  The FSS coordinator will recruit FSS participants from current Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants. This position is responsible for maintaining HCV files on all FSS participants as well as maintain HCV Home Ownership files on five disabled homeownership participants.  This position assumes responsibility for case management including development of contacts with service providers and agencies for referrals and the ongoing case management responsibility.

Eligibility Technician (2)

As an Eligibility Technician for the Grand Junction Housing Authority, you would be responsible for greeting and assisting clients in a courteous, professional manner with determining initial eligibility for Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA) Programs in compliance with GJHA policies and procedures and appropriate program rules and regulations, where applicable.

You will interact and serve a diverse population of individuals and learn the complex regulations and policies.  Your customer service skills are paramount, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and build relationships is a must.  

The ideal candidate has the ability to do the following: 

  • Must treat people with respect and work with integrity and professional ethics, upholding the agency’s values and mission. Represents the agency in a positive, professional and ethical manner at all times.

  • Answers accurately, citizens’ requests for information, both in person and over the telephone, about housing assistance provided by GJHA and general information about other housing agencies.  Must be cordial and helpful in providing information so that the citizen has a good understanding of the process of applying for housing assistance.

  • Supports other staff members in performance of their job responsibilities, including limited typing of routine correspondence as related to programs; i.e., waiting list purge letters, eligibility and annual recertification notices, notices of evictions, and responses to general inquiries of Programs.

  • Adapts well to change in the work environment.  Works with frequent interruptions and responds calmly and professionally to emergency situations.  Demonstrates the ability to provide quality services to a culturally diverse population. 

The hiring pay range for this non-exempt position is $15.82/hour - $17.00/hr. and would be eligible for discretionary, performance-based bonuses. The position is benefit eligible with a benefit menu that includes health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid time off accruals, and holiday pay. The schedule is typically 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with the possibility of occasional overtime and the ability to work an approved flexible schedule.  This position requires full time work in-person as this position serves our front reception for walk-in customers.  EOE

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, the drop box at our main office on Foresight Circle was vandalized and the contents were stolen. If you deposited anything in the drop box between 4pm Friday, September 2, 2022 and 5am Monday, September 5, 2022, it was stolen. If you dropped off a rent payment, please first contact your bank or the money order company and report it stolen. Please also contact us to let us know what you deposited in the drop box. DO NOT USE THE DROP BOX AT 8 FORESIGHT CIRCLE until we can better secure or replace it (signs are posted).
