As the Controller for the Grand Junction Housing Authority, you would be responsible for performing professional accounting work of considerable difficulty and supervising staff members engaged in all facets of accounting, finance, quality assurance, and business support for the Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA).  You would continually audit and improve accounting policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems and be responsible for the overall integrity and accuracy of the accounting and financial reporting system in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.  You would analyze operating performance against plans, trends, budgets, or other standards and provide advice to management and the Board of Directors deemed appropriate or requested.  You would work frequently with other GJHA staff and as a member of the Leadership and Executive Teams.  You would be engaged in decision-making for the entire organization and would work with all members of both teams to assure adherence to the organization’s values, strategic vision, and plan.

As the Chief Financial Officer for the Grand Junction Housing Authority, you would be accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA).   Our CFO is a working CFO position and works in collaboration with the Executive Team on development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, future forecasting, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. You would be responsible for the overall integrity and accuracy of the accounting and financial reporting system in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.  The CFO would lead team members in accounting, finance, quality assurance, and business support for the Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA).  You would be responsible to analyze operating performance against plans, trends, budgets, debt management, manage and oversee audits and procurement, and provide advice to management and the Board of Directors deemed appropriate or requested. As a member of the Leadership Team, you would work proactively with agency leadership to meet GJHA goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate for either position has the ability to do the following: 

  • Must treat people with respect and work with integrity and professional ethics, upholding the agency’s values and mission. Represents the agency in a positive, professional, and ethical manner at all times.
  • Be responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of all financial records and reports for all GJHA programs.  Coordinates external audits and all compliance reporting.
  • Is able to prepare financial reports for GJHA Executives, Board, and funding agencies in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast agency business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.

The pay range for these full-time, exempt positions are $91,700 to $137,470 annually, and would be eligible for discretionary, performance-based bonuses. Either position is benefit eligible with a benefit menu that includes health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid time off accruals, immediate retirement vesting, and holiday pay.  Either position requires full time work in-person, on site during the first year of employment; after that, the opportunity for some remote work can be discussed.  EOE

Accounting Technician

As an Accounting Technician for the Grand Junction Housing Authority, you would be responsible for administrative and accounting work under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor and/or CFO and is part of the Accounting Team.  The majority of work involves providing support to the finance team with responsibility for the daily accounting transactions of the Housing Authority.

You will interact and serve clients both internally and externally in the accounts payable process, utilizing the AvidXchange software program.  Your customer service skills are paramount, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and build relationships is a must.  

The ideal candidate has the ability to do the following: 

  • Must treat people with respect and work with integrity and professional ethics, upholding the agency’s values and mission. Represents the agency in a positive, professional and ethical manner at all times.
  • Answers accurately, individuals’ requests for information, both in-person and electronically and meets appropriate accounts payable deadlines.
  • Adapts well to change in the work environment.  Works with frequent interruptions and responds calmly and professionally to emergency situations.  Demonstrates the ability to provide quality services to a culturally diverse population. 

The pay range for this non-exempt position is $18.41/hour - $25.82/ hour and would be eligible for discretionary, performance-based bonuses. The position is benefit eligible with a benefit menu that includes health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid time off accruals, and holiday pay. The schedule is typically 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with the possibility of occasional overtime and the ability to work an approved flexible schedule.  This position requires full time work in-person.  EOE

Eligibility Technician

As an Eligibility Technician  for the Grand Junction Housing Authority, you would be responsible for greeting and assisting clients in a courteous, professional manner with determining initial eligibility for Grand Junction Housing Authority (GJHA) Programs in compliance with GJHA policies and procedures and appropriate program rules and regulations, where applicable.

You will interact and serve a diverse population of individuals and learn the complex regulations and policies.  Your customer service skills are paramount, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and build relationships is a must.  

The ideal candidate has the ability to do the following: 

  • Must treat people with respect and work with integrity and professional ethics, upholding the agency’s values and mission. Represents the agency in a positive, professional and ethical manner at all times.
  • Answers accurately, citizens’ requests for information, both in person and over the telephone, about housing assistance provided by GJHA and general information about other housing agencies.  Must be cordial and helpful in providing information so that the citizen has a good understanding of the process of applying for housing assistance.
  • Supports other staff members in performance of their job responsibilities, including limited typing of routine correspondence as related to programs; i.e., waiting list purge letters, eligibility and annual recertification notices, notices of evictions, and responses to general inquiries of Programs.
  • Adapts well to change in the work environment.  Works with frequent interruptions and responds calmly and professionally to emergency situations.  Demonstrates the ability to provide quality services to a culturally diverse population. 

The pay range for this non-exempt position is $15.82/hour - $22.16/ hour and would be eligible for discretionary, performance-based bonuses. The position is benefit eligible with a benefit menu that includes health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid time off accruals, and holiday pay. The schedule is typically 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with the possibility of occasional overtime and the ability to work an approved flexible schedule.  This position requires full time work in-person, on site during the first 90 days of the position; after that, the opportunity for some remote work can be discussed.  EOE

Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician at the Grand Junction Housing Authority, you will put your best troubleshooting skills to work at an organization that takes pride in fostering a community in which families and individuals have an inviting and safe place to call home.  If you pride yourself on a job well done and are a natural problem solver, then this is the job for you!

Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for quality and timely general apartment maintenance and repair to ensure apartment homes and other property facilities are in good working order. Responsibilities include preparing apartments for move-in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units; electrical appliances, outlets, and light fixtures; plumbing, carpentry, and locks.  A majority of work is completed in occupied apartment units.

The ideal candidate has the ability to do the following: 

  • Must treat people with respect and work with integrity and professional ethics, upholding the agency’s values and mission. Represents the agency in a positive, professional and ethical manner at all times.
  • Monitor and manage assigned work orders through an electronic work order system.  Performs electronic recordkeeping related to labor hours and materials used.  Monitor and utilize electronic communications such as email, text messages, electronic team meetings through different software platforms and respond accordingly.

The pay range for this non-exempt position is $18.41/hour - $25.82/ hour and would be eligible for discretionary, performance-based bonuses. The position is benefit eligible with a benefit menu that includes health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid time off accruals, and holiday pay. Outside of scheduled on-call hours, the weekly schedule is typically 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with the possibility of occasional overtime.  This position must be available to work on-call and respond to 24-hour call outs as assigned. This position requires full time work in-person, on site.  EOE
